The engagement of Western countries, companies and individuals is in numerous cases accompanied by setbacks and often ends in failure. The view of Africa is often shaped through the lens of development aid and a paternalistic approach.<\/p>\n

Often, Africa is also viewed in a very much generalised way, without considering the differences and particularities of the current 54 countries and their populations. The reasons for this are certainly to be found in the past, in the history of colonisation, which continues to have an impact and influence on the way of thinking and approaching things today.<\/p>\n
